This exploratory case study investigates the implementation and educational impact of a Virtual Reality (VR)- and Augmented Reality (AR)-based assistive technology developed to support learners with dyslexia. The intervention, delivered via mobile devices and VR headsets, incorporated gamified and interactive content aimed at enhancing cognitive skills such as attention, inhibition, narrative memory, and phonological awareness. Two in-depth case studies were conducted with primary school students formally diagnosed with dyslexia. Cognitive performance was assessed using the NEPSY-II neuropsychological battery, and user experience was evaluated using the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). The results showed positive trends in executive function and language-related skills, as well as high motivation and satisfaction. While these findings suggest promising benefits of immersive educational technologies in dyslexia intervention, conclusions regarding efficacy cannot be drawn due to the limited sample size. Further research with larger and controlled designs is needed to validate these initial observations. Full article

The application of extended reality (XR) in design education has grown substantially; however, empirical evidence on its educational benefits remains limited. This two-year study examines the impact of incorporating a virtual reality (VR) learning module into undergraduate landscape architecture (LA) construction courses, focusing on brick masonry instruction. A conventional learning sequence—lecture, sketching, CAD, and 3D modeling—was supplemented with an immersive VR experience developed using Unreal Engine 5 and deployed on Meta Quest devices. In Year 1, we piloted a preliminary version of the module with landscape architecture students (n = 15), and data on implementation feasibility and student perception were collected. In Year 2, we refined the learning module and implemented it with a new cohort (n = 16) using standardized VR evaluation metrics, knowledge retention tests, and self-efficacy surveys. The findings suggest that when sequenced after a theoretical introduction, VR serves as a pedagogical bridge between abstract construction principles and physical implementation. Moreover, the VR module enhanced student engagement and self-efficacy by offering experiential learning with immediate feedback. The findings highlight the need for intentional design, institutional support, and the continued development of tactile, collaborative simulations. Full article

As augmented reality (AR) advertising becomes increasingly prevalent across digital platforms, understanding how its unique features influence consumer responses is critical for both theory and practice. Based on the elaboration likelihood model (ELM), this study develops and validates a dual-dimension content–dual-route processing model to investigate how different features of AR advertising influence consumer engagement. Specifically, it examines how product-related attributes (attractiveness, informativeness) and technology-related attributes (interactivity, augmentation) shape attitudes toward the ad and purchase intentions through cognitive (information credibility) and affective (enjoyment) pathways. Using data from an online survey (N = 299), the study applies partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) to test the proposed model. The results show that informativeness and augmentation significantly enhance information credibility, while attractiveness primarily influences emotional responses. Interactivity and augmentation positively influence cognitive and affective responses. Mediation analysis confirms the simultaneous activation of central and peripheral processing routes, with flow experience emerging as a significant moderator in selected pathways. By introducing a structured framework for AR advertising content, this study extends the applicability of the ELM in immersive media contexts. It underscores the combined impact of rational evaluation and emotional engagement in shaping consumer behavior and offers practical insights for designing effective AR advertising strategies. Cement–Soil Mixing (CSM) Pile is an important technology for soft ground reinforcement, and its as-formed compressive strength directly affects engineering design and construction quality. To address the significant discrepancy between laboratory-tested strength and field as-formed strength arising from differing environmental conditions, this study conducted modified laboratory experiments simulating key field formation characteristics. A cement–soil preparation system considering actual immersion conditions was established, based on controlling the initial water content state of the foundation soil before pile formation and applying submerged conditions post-formation. Utilizing data mining on 84 sets of experimental data with various preparation parameter combinations, a prediction model for the as-formed strength of CSM Pile was developed based on the Particle Swarm Optimization-Extreme Gradient Boosting (PSO-XGBoost) algorithm. Engineering validation demonstrated that the model achieved an RMSE of 0.138, an MAE of 0.112, and an R2 of 0.961. It effectively addresses the issue of large prediction deviations caused by insufficient environmental simulation in traditional mix proportion tests. The research findings establish a quantitative relationship between as-formed strength and preparation parameters, providing an effective experimental improvement and strength prediction method for the engineering design of CSM Pile. In response to the stress commonly experienced by young people in high-pressure daily environments, a music-based stress-relief interactive system was developed by integrating music-assisted care with emotion-sensing technology. The design principles of the system were established through a literature review on stress, music listening, emotion detection, and interactive devices. A prototype was created accordingly and refined through interviews with four experts and eleven users participating in a preliminary experiment. The system is grounded in a four-stage guided imagery and music framework, along with a static activity model focused on relaxation-based stress management. Emotion detection was achieved using a wearable EEG device (NeuroSky’s MindWave Mobile device) and a two-dimensional emotion model, and the emotional states were translated into visual representations using seasonal and weather metaphors. A formal experiment involving 52 users was conducted. The system was evaluated, and its effectiveness confirmed, through user interviews and questionnaire surveys, with statistical analysis conducted using SPSS 26 and AMOS 23. The findings reveal that: (1) integrating emotion sensing with music listening creates a novel and engaging interactive experience; (2) emotional states can be effectively visualized using nature-inspired metaphors, enhancing user immersion and understanding; and (3) the combination of music listening, guided imagery, and real-time emotional feedback successfully promotes emotional relaxation and increases self-awareness. The formation mechanism of Virtual Reality (VR) Immersive Experience (VRIE) is notably complex; this study aimed to dynamically decode its underlying drivers by innovatively integrating Flow Theory and Privacy Calculus Theory, focusing on Perceptual-Interactive Fidelity (PIF), Consumer Willingness to Immerse in Technology (CWTI), and the applicability of Loss Aversion Theory. To achieve this, we analyzed approximately 30,000 user reviews from Amazon using Latent Semantic Analysis (LSA) and regression analysis. The findings reveal that user attention’s impact on VRIE is non-linear, suggesting an optimal threshold, and confirm PIF as a central influencing mechanism; furthermore, CWTI significantly moderates users’ privacy calculus, thereby affecting VRIE, while Loss Aversion Theory showed limited explanatory power in the VR context. These results provide a deeper understanding of VR user behavior, offering significant theoretical guidance and practical implications for future VR system design, particularly in strategically balancing user cognition, PIF, privacy concerns, and individual willingness. This study aims to analyze the bending behavior of polylactic acid (PLA) structures made by fusion deposition modeling (FDM) technology. The investigation analyzed chiral structures such as lozenge and clepsydra, as well as geometries with wavy patterns such as roller and Es, in addition to a honeycomb structure. All geometries have a relative density of 50%. After being subjected to three-point bending tests, the capacity to spring back with respect to the bending angle and the shape recovery of the structures were measured. The roller and lozenge structures demonstrated the best performance, with shape recovery assessed through three consecutive hot water immersion cycles. The lozenge structure exhibits 25% higher energy absorption than the roller, but the latter ensures better replicability and shape stability. Additionally, the roller absorbs 15% less energy than the lozenge, which experiences a 27% decrease in absorption between the first and second cycle. This work provides new insights into the bending-based energy absorption and recovery behavior of PLA metamaterials, relevant for applications in adaptive and energy-dissipating systems. Full article

History tools facilitate iterative analysis data by allowing users to view, retrieve, and revisit visualization states. However, traditional history tools are constrained by screen space limitations, which restrict the user’s ability to fully understand historical states and make it challenging to provide an intuitive preview of these states. Most immersive history tools, in contrast, operate independently of screen space and fail to consider their integration. This paper proposes HybridFilm, an innovative mixed-reality history tool that seamlessly integrates screen space and immersive reality. First, it expands the user’s understanding of historical states through a multi-source spatial fusion approach. Second, it proposes a “focus + context”-based multi-source spatial historical data visualization and interaction scheme. Furthermore, we assessed the usability and utility of HybridFilm through experimental evaluation. In comparison to traditional history tools, HybridFilm offers a more intuitive and immersive experience while maintaining a comparable level of interaction comfort and fluency. Full article

Ne Zha 2 (Ne Zha: Mo Tong Nao Hai, 哪吒之魔童闹海, 2025) is a prime example of the modernization of traditional literary intellectual property (IP). It has achieved the highest box office gross in Chinese cinematic history and ranks among the top five highest-grossing films globally. This article uses a case study approach to examine the adaptation strategies of Ne Zha 2 (2025), offering strategic insights for future film adaptations. The analysis focuses on four key dimensions—character, plot, theme, and esthetics—to explore how these elements contribute to the film’s adaptation. The findings reveal that the film strikes a balance between intertextuality and innovation, achieved through multidimensional character development, narrative subversion, contemporary thematic reinterpretation, and sophisticated esthetic techniques. By maintaining the emotional connection to the classical IP, the adaptation not only delivers stunning visual spectacles but also provides a culturally immersive experience, revitalizing traditional mythology with contemporary relevance. With the advancement of immersive technologies, metaverse museum exhibitions have become an increasingly important medium through which audiences access cultural content and experience artistic works. This study aims to identify the key factors influencing visitors’ processual experiences in metaverse museum exhibitions and to explore how these factors collectively contribute to the formation of satisfaction with the visiting experience. Adopting an interdisciplinary theoretical perspective, the study integrates the Experience Economy theory with the Stimulus–Organism–Response (SOR) model to construct a systematic theoretical framework. This framework reveals how exhibition-related stimuli affect visitors’ behavioral intentions through psychological response pathways. Specifically, perceived educational appeal, interactive entertainment, escapist experience, and perceived visual aesthetics are defined as stimulus variables, while psychological immersion, emotional trigger, and cognitive engagement are introduced as organismic variables to explain their effects on satisfaction with the visiting experience and social sharing intention as response variables. Based on 507 valid responses, Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) was employed for empirical analysis. The results indicate that interactive entertainment and escapist experience have significant positive effects on psychological responses, serving as key drivers of deep visitor engagement. Emotional Trigger acts as a significant mediator between exhibition stimuli and satisfaction with the visiting experience, which in turn significantly predicts social sharing intention. In contrast, perceived educational appeal and perceived visual aesthetics exhibit weaker impacts at the cognitive and behavioral levels. This study not only identifies these weakened pathways but also proposes optimization strategies grounded in experiential construction and cognitive synergy, offering guidance for enhancing the educational function and deep experiential design of metaverse exhibitions. The findings validate the applicability of the Experience Economy theory and the SOR model in metaverse cultural contexts and deepen our understanding of the psychological mechanisms underlying immersive cultural experiences. This study further provides a pathway for shifting exhibition design from a “content-oriented” to an “experience-driven” approach, offering theoretical and practical insights into enhancing audience engagement and cultural communication effectiveness in metaverse museums. Stereoscopic omnidirectional images (SOIs) have gained significant attention for their immersive viewing experience by providing binocular depth with panoramic scenes. However, evaluating their visual quality remains challenging due to its unique spherical geometry, binocular disparity, and viewing conditions. To address these challenges, this paper proposes a dual-branch deep learning framework that integrates spherical structural features and perceptual binocular cues to assess the quality of SOIs without reference. Specifically, the global branch leverages spherical convolutions to capture wide-range spatial distortions, while the local branch utilizes a binocular difference module based on discrete wavelet transform to extract depth-aware perceptual information. A feature complementarity module is introduced to fuse global and local representations for final quality prediction. Experimental evaluations on two public SOIQA datasets—NBU-SOID and SOLID—demonstrate that the proposed method achieves state-of-the-art performance, with PLCC/SROCC values of 0.926/0.918 and 0.918/0.891, respectively. These results validate the effectiveness and robustness of our approach in stereoscopic omnidirectional image quality assessment tasks. Full article

This study examines how a visitor-centered approach enhances engagement, participation, and intangible heritage transmission to support cultural sustainability in ethnographic museums. We conducted online and on-site behavioral observations, questionnaire surveys, and in-depth interviews at the She Ethnic Minority Museum to identify gaps in current visitor experience design. We combined the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) with the Contextual Model of Learning (POE) and Emotional Experience Theory (EET) to develop a hierarchical evaluation model. The model comprises one goal layer, three criterion layers (Experience, Participation, Transmission), and twelve sub-criteria, each evaluated across People, Object, and Environment dimensions. Quantitative weighting revealed that participation exerts the greatest influence, followed by transmission and experience. Findings indicate that targeted interventions promoting active participation most effectively foster emotional resonance and heritage transmission, while strategies supporting intergenerational engagement and immersive experiences also play a significant role. We recommend prioritizing small-scale, low-cost participatory initiatives and integrating online and offline community engagement to establish a participatory chain where engagement leads to meaningful experiences and sustained cultural transmission. These insights offer practical guidance for museum practitioners and policymakers seeking to enhance visitor experiences and ensure the long-term preservation and vibrancy of ethnic minority cultural heritage. This study explores the potential of Intelligent Geographic Information Systems (GISs) in advancing educational practices through the integration of real-time data models. The objective is to investigate how GIS technology can enhance teaching and learning by providing interactive and dynamic learning environments. The research employs a bibliometric analysis based on the Scopus database, covering the period from 2000 to 2024, to identify key trends, the evolution of GIS applications in education, and their pedagogical impact. Findings reveal that GISs, particularly when incorporating real-time data, enable a more immersive learning experience, facilitate data-driven decision-making, and promote student engagement through project-based learning. However, challenges such as the lack of specialized training for educators and limitations in technological infrastructure remain significant barriers to widespread adoption. The study concludes that Intelligent GISs have the potential to transform education by fostering personalized, interdisciplinary learning and enhancing educational management. It emphasizes the need for further research aimed at developing user-friendly systems and addressing ethical concerns to ensure the benefits of GIS technology are accessible to all students. Future studies should examine the long-term effects of GISs on student outcomes and explore their integration into diverse educational contexts. Full article

In the context of eco-friendly e-commerce, understanding the psychological and experiential mechanisms that drive consumers’ online purchasing behavior is essential for promoting sustainable platform development. This study aims to fill a critical gap in the literature by examining how social interaction, entertainment, and sales promotion influence consumers’ purchase intentions through the mediating roles of perceived value and immersive flow experience. Grounded in the Stimulus–Organism–Response (S-O-R) theoretical framework, we developed a structural model and conducted an empirical analysis using survey data collected from 438 online shoppers. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS and AMOS through SEM. The results show that social interaction and sales promotion significantly enhance both perceived value and flow experience, which in turn positively influence consumers’ purchase intentions. However, entertainment exhibits a negative and significant effect on perceived value and does not significantly affect flow experience, indicating that hedonic content may not always translate into perceived usefulness or deep engagement. Moreover, the influence of social interaction on flow experience was also found to be negative and significant, suggesting that not all forms of interaction necessarily lead to immersive experiences. These findings highlight the complex psychological dynamics in digital consumption. This study contributes original insights by integrating psychological engagement mechanisms with the goal of digital sustainability, offering practical implications for online retailers aiming to enhance user engagement and platform longevity through experience-driven strategies. Background: Intermediate care units face growing complexity due to aging populations and chronic illnesses. Non-technical skills such as empathy and communication are crucial for quality care. We aimed to examine the relationship between communication skills, self-efficacy, and sense of coherence among intermediate care nurses. Methods: We conducted an observational, cross-sectional study with 60 intermediate care nurses from three units in a Catalan hospital, Spain. Participants engaged in high-fidelity simulation using geriatric end-of-life scenarios with an ultra-realistic manikin representing a geriatric patient at the end of life. NTSs were measured using validated tools: the Health Professionals Communication Skills Scale (HP-CSS), the General Self-Efficacy Scale, and the Sense of Coherence Questionnaire (OLQ-13). Sessions followed INACSL standards, including prebriefing, simulation, and debriefing phases. Results: Post-simulation outcomes revealed significant gains in interpersonal competencies, with men reporting higher assertiveness (p = 0.015) and greater satisfaction with both the simulation experience (p = 0.003) and the instructor (p = 0.008), underscoring gender-related perceptions in immersive training. Conclusions: Ultra-realistic clinical simulation is effective in enhancing NTS among intermediate care nurses, contributing to improved care quality and clearer professional profiles in geriatric nursing.
